About Brandon Petryszyn

For the past several years, photography has been a passion that grew from something fun into something meaningful. I started with a Nikon D3400—just a basic beginner camera—and brought it with me when I went to college. I was on the swim team at Davenport University, and since we didn’t have a photographer, I began taking photos in between my races. What started as a hobby quickly became something I truly loved.

As I kept shooting, more opportunities opened up. I began taking senior and grad photos, portraits for couples and individuals, and eventually started photographing various sports and media days for Davenport University.

In 2025, I was asked to become the lead athletic photographer for Davenport University based on the work I had done for my swim team and other sports just for fun. That role allowed me to photograph a wide range of sports, create content for multiple media days, and contribute to graphics and marketing used across the university’s social platforms. I’ve also had the chance to cover major events such as the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships and the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship tournament.

What I enjoy most about photography is the impact it has on others. I’ve had teams tell me my photos make them feel like a “real” team, and individuals share that their families—often in other countries—can follow their journey through the images I capture. Knowing my work helps people feel connected is the most rewarding part of what I do.

I never expected something I picked up just to help my team would end up having such a big impact on my life. What started as a simple hobby quickly grew into something I genuinely love. Photography has opened the door to so many unique moments, helped me keep learning and improving, and connected me with people I never would have met otherwise.

As of December 2025, I’ve relocated back home to Minnesota, and I’m excited to be available for new photography work and opportunities. I’m incredibly grateful for how far this passion has taken me—and even more excited for what’s next.

Today, my main setup includes the Nikon Z6II and the Nikon Z7II. In my bag, I carry a 28–75mm f/2.8, a 70–200mm f/2.8, a 150–600mm f/5–6.7, and a 40mm f/1.8—lenses that let me capture everything from portraits to fast-paced sports action.
